Position title
Graduate Production Planner
Description

Benefits include: bonus based on company performance, free parking, above average pension contribution, canteen.

This business is a manufacturer and supplier of a range of products that are used in the construction industry. They are looking for a recent graduate to join their Operations team. It’s a newly created role and a great opportunity to really make your mark.

There are 5 machines in the production department, and you will be helping to plan production: making sure there are enough raw materials available at the right time and for the right orders. This will include liaising with other departments.

Essentially you will be a cog between the commercial and operations department – finding out what orders have been placed from customers, then making sure they are produced in time. Materials requirement planning is key: analysing current inventory levels versus production capacity and the need to manufacture goods

This is largely based on forecasts, so there will be a lot of data analysis and report production. You will be using Microsoft GP, if you have not used it before that’s ok as training can be provided.

You will be planning what goes into the order book, then reviewing it, seeing what has been achieved,  and deciding what goes on to the next day- changing plans if required. As time goes on your horizon will be expanded: planning ahead for the next 6 months, and getting involved in meetings with directors to discuss capital expenditure.

It is an industrial business, with sometimes industrial language- this isn’t for everyone, so please consider if you will be happy working in this environment. Also, at times you will need to say no to people, you can’t please everyone all the time- so some degree of confidence and assertiveness will be required in relation to this. Of course this will be easier in time, as you grow into the role, and in the early stages you will be guided by more senior staff.

The business is well-established and has a year-on-year increase in profits- with further investment due. This means that there are excellent long-term prospects too- it could be something connected with this area, or transport / logistics, purchasing, or maybe even commercial.

There are also projects that may be involved with from time-to-time, for example a current one related to sustainability.

There can be some flexibility in degree type, though some will be more suitable than others (for example industrial, accountancy, supply-chain, or business based could be a good match). And you will need to demonstrate that you are good with data analysis, and figures.

Based to the north of Stoke, commutable from Burslem, Tunstall area, Crewe, Newcastle under Lyme, Hanley, Leek.

Only  candidates who are eligible to permanently work in the UK without restriction can be considered
