Technical and scientific support (Materials Science or Metallurgy) with travel and ongoing development

This business designs, manufactures, and installs capital equipment for a the global advanced materials industry sector, ranging from small R&D systems for universities and institutions, through to large scale industrial production units for corporate enterprises across the globe.

Although the product and technology range spans many aspects of the industrial metallurgy sector, they are best known for the design of gas atomisation technology essential to produce high performance metal powders.

Design technologies typically include gas atomisation, induction heating, fluid Physics, chemical vapour deposition, fluidised beds physical vapour deposition, wire casting and melt spinning and thermal vacuum and pressure systems.

Their systems are sold throughout the world, requiring design disciplines that encompass and combine cost effective design innovation with operational simplicity.

Global focus on lowering CO2 emissions and the drive for renewable energy systems is continuously increasing demand for the special materials produced using their atomising systems, and hey are now looking to expand their scientific project team.

An in-depth understanding of the global materials industry is required, combined with proven research management experience in a commercially orientated environment.

This role will offer you the opportunity for continual professional development, occasional international travel, and stimulating applications research work in several key material sectors within a growing global market.

While the ideal candidate would hold a PhD, applications from Bachelors or Masters graduates are also welcomed. Your degree would ideally be Research and Development Materials Science / Metallurgy related, but chemical engineering, or physical chemistry will also be considered.

You will be supporting technical sales on specific applications, and will also be representing the business during conferences, video Team’s meetings, and overseas exhibitions.

There will be the opportunity to manage the ongoing critical analysis review of technology and products, to ensure optimum performance and cost benefits.

The role is predominantly office based but may involve occasional UK travel and short overseas visits in support of the worldwide customer base. So a driving licence and your own transport is preferred- and a passport is essential.

Location is in East-Sussex, commutable from Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings, Hailsham, Tunbridge Wells, Haywards Heath, and areas in between.
